Positive Progress Towards Pool Repair

When the new Southwell Leisure Centre Trust (SLCT) Board met with Newark and Sherwood District Council (NSDC); NSDC indicated they would consider further quotes for repair work, so during September and October much work has been conducted, to obtain these for NSDC to consider.

The Trust Board and Advisory Group met again on 6 November to review progress and were pleased that several comprehensive quotes would be submitted before the end of November. We have asked to have a further meeting with NSDC in early December to discuss them and hopefully agree for works to be funded and start.

The Trustees became aware recently of concerns about the state of repair in the gym and so made another tour of Southwell Leisure Centre, spoke with senior managers from Active4Today and were largely reassured. However we were also made aware of the refurbishments taking place at other local leisure centres and have made enquiries as to why the same refurbishments have not been listed for Southwell. We continue to engage in dialogue with NSDC on this issue.
