We’re really pleased to share a further update on the exciting changes taking place at Southwell Leisure Centre and what this means for our members and the wider community.

Since Southwell Leisure Centre Trust took back control of the Leisure Centre in May 2025, we have been working hard to secure a strong, long-term future for the facility. We’re delighted to confirm that from 1 April, the day-to-day management of the centre will transfer to Parkwood Leisure, one of the UK’s leading leisure operators. Alongside this change, nearly £1 million will be invested into the centre over the next couple of years to improve facilities and create an even better experience for everyone who uses them.

From 1 April, the leisure centre will continue to operate business as usual. All current Southwell Leisure Centre members will be able to transition easily to a Parkwood membership, with support in place to make the process simple and straightforward.

Parkwood memberships will be available to purchase in the next few days, starting from 1 April. Current membership prices will remain the same, with a range of enhanced membership options also available for those looking for additional benefits.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll continue working closely with Active 4 Today and Parkwood Leisure to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible. Supporting our existing customers remains our main priority, and we’ll keep you informed as more details are confirmed.

Swimming Pool Update

Getting the swimming pool open again remains our top priority. To allow essential repairs and refurbishment of the wet side areas, the learner pool will close in March. Repair works are expected to take approximately 12 to 16 weeks, and we are currently planning for the pool to reopen in June.

We understand how important the pool is to many of our customers and recognise that this temporary closure will cause some inconvenience. However, these works are essential to ensure the pool is safe, reliable and fit for the future, and form a key part of the wider investment into the centre.

We are also working with Parkwood Leisure to offer alternative swimming lesson opportunities at their centres in Bingham and Cotgrave and will be providing more information on this in the next week or two.

Investment and Improvements

We’re especially excited about the investment taking place over the coming months. It will initially include repairs to the main pool, improved changing rooms, and upgrades to the gym and weights areas. This will then be followed by further investment to support the reopening of the soft play area and the creation of a new studio space, allowing for a wider range of classes and activities.

Looking Ahead

The Trustees are thrilled about what this partnership and investment mean for the future of Southwell Leisure Centre. This is an important step forward and reinforces our commitment to providing high-quality, accessible leisure facilities for the community for many years to come.

Please keep an eye on our website and social media channels for the latest updates on memberships, bookings and works progress. If you have any questions, comments, or would like to share your views, we’d love to hear from you.
