We’re pleased to share another positive update on the future of Southwell Leisure Centre.
Following the recent Invitation to Tender (ITT) process, we’re delighted to confirm that the deadline has now passed — and we’ve received a number of exciting bids from highly experienced leisure operators.
Working closely with our independent leisure consultant, a leading specialist who has successfully managed similar projects for leisure centres across the length and breadth of the country, the Trust will now evaluate these bids to identify the operator best placed to help us achieve our strategic objectives. These include:
Repairing and reopening the main swimming pool as a key community facility.
Investing in and modernising the wider Leisure Centre to create a welcoming, accessible, and energy-efficient environment.
Expanding the range of affordable health, fitness, and wellbeing programmes to meet the needs of all ages and abilities.
Ensuring long-term financial sustainability, so that the Centre can thrive for decades to come.
With the funding secured through the lease surrender and settlement agreement with Newark and Sherwood District Council, the Trust has the resources to complete the essential pool repairs and invest in improvements across the Leisure Centre. We look forward to working with a new operator and their experienced team to bring our shared vision to life, creating a modern, inclusive, and thriving facility at the heart of the Southwell community. We’re aiming to confirm the appointment of the new operator by the end of this year and look forward to sharing more updates as plans progress.
