Since opening its doors 60 years ago Southwell Leisure Centre (SLC) has been at the heart of local life.
This vital community asset continues to promote the health and well-being of people of all ages through a wide range of activities and classes. The Trust is working hard with Active4Today and other partners to ensure that there is an uninterrupted service.
SLC aims to remain a vibrant well used facility providing a diverse range of leisure activities. Its short and long term viability rely heavily on this range of leisure to ensure that is well used by its customers.

To this end new classes, such as pickleball and kickboxing, are proving to be very popular. Along with the existing programme of classes such as pilates, yoga, body conditioning and the well equipped gym, SLC bears good comparison with much larger centres elsewhere.
The training pool offers swimming lessons and the sauna is open during public swim sessions when all ages are welcome. There is a slide for small children as well as floats and a range of toys to make your time together in the pool fun.
There is currently good availability for membership in a range of categories. All enquiries regarding membership are welcome and more information can be found at www.active4today.co.uk
The Trust investigation into the pool faults commenced as soon as the Leisure Centre was back under the Trust’s control last month with the intent of designing a cost effective repair solution. Work plans to refurbish the swimming facilities are now being worked on by a number of contractors. Exploratory engineering work will be the next step.
We are also consulting with the current and potential future operators to ensure that the remaining refurbishment work meets current and future needs and standards.
We are preparing to consult with the local community and thank everyone for their assistance, patience and support so far.
