A meeting of the Southwell Leisure Centre Advisory Group and Trustees took place on Thursday 24 April. A number of very exciting proposals were discussed for the future of the leisure centre, which will return to the Trust in the near future, following the completion of the mediation process.

There was discussion about:
· Getting the pool work started shortly after handover.
· Installing renewable energy features to help with utility costs and to make the centre more environmentally friendly.
· Enhancing links with health services and ensuring that facilities are available to help people with disabilities and rehabilitation needs.
· Providing good services to local students.
· Ensuring community engagement in developments, so that the leisure centre is doing things which local people want.
· Inviting local people to support the leisure centre via community funding initiatives.
A public meeting is being planned in the next month or so, so that more information can be provided, questions asked and answered, suggestions and ideas discussed. This meeting will be advertised widely when finalised.
